Ive had COD4 since the day it was released, but I have NEVER played the online portion if it :eek: (yeah I know). I spent the first couple of weeks playing and finishing the campaign, as well as finding the secrets (laptops, etc). After that I was just busy with other things in life until recently, so now I have more time to spend doing some gaming. I downloaded the new maps yesterday, so I would like to start playing online and getting my a$$ handed to me :D Is there ANYONE on here that is a newb and would like to join me online, maybe tonight or sometime this week?

I doubt anyone else would want me on their team....:(

Played with this guy and three others....A lot more fun than trying to get in and out of games by yourself.

you'll take your lumps, but hang in there. Get to know the maps quickly and unlock some red dots for your guns. Don't run down the middle of roads and for the love of god don't become a camper.

Last week I started multiplayer and I'm loving it. First week I didn't nothing but free for all to get the hang of the maps and general talent level. I like ffa because I don't have to worry about upsetting teammates while learning the basics. I played my first team games last night.

I have yet to play with the TWW yet but I can guarantee it will be better than any random XBL game.

it doesn't suck at all, the best guns in the game are the default ones, and perks help but don't make or break a player...

stick with the basics, the M16, MP5, and RPD with red dot and stopping power are great, and mess around with the unlockable perks as you get them. the M4 is also good, and you should have unlocked that by now, so try that out too. the P90 is the only other gun that you may want, but the other guns will do fine until you get it...

I've played the single player and have played online for the first time the other night and it was GREAT. very addicting.

Merc Team Deathmatch is a good way to get your feet wet. The matchmaking seems to throw you in with people of similar ability. Sometimes, when playing the objective games solo or with a party, you get matched up with players much better than you, which can be overwhelming (and unfun!).

That said, the TWW guys are fun to play with (I'm in - my username is my tag). We tend to play lots of hardcore, which is very different than most of the online play. I'm probably one of the more competitive guys I've played with in TWW, tho. I don't get upset when I lose, but I try really hard to win. :)

This is EXACTLY my situation...I've had COD4 since the beginning but once I picked up Rock Band, every other game went away...now that I'm "maxing out" my skills on Rock Band I'm back for some COD4 multi soon but it'll be my first time with this game...

I'm a COD4 noob willing to play with other noobs. I'm much better at Halo 3.

Yes, well, as a Crew fan you have to get used to the losing. :D

Anyway, Merc TDM is a great way to cut your teeth in the MP version of the game. I pretty much never played anything but TDM until I was rank 50 or so. You can gain XP a lot faster in the objective modes, but you can also run into some really good players there.

I'm in the same position and just found out that I am addicted to the game last night. I just started playing the game online a couple days ago and only have a ranking of 13.

I keep meaning to play online, but I know I am going to suck at it, and no matter how much leveling up I do, it won't help me. I guess I just need to "jump in" as they say and either play solo deathmatch or deal with the yelling from teammates in team-based modes. This Live Fire weekend is as good a time as any.

My 360 is being refurbed at the moment. I'll hopefully be playing H3 again soon (within the next week) and then move on to COD4.
