I'm looking at getting a 50" plasma tv/monitor for my video editing suite. I'll be doing some HD in the future, and a lot of SD right now. The monitor will be placed approximately ten feet from the operating position.
I work in broadcast video production, but I have not seen one of these new plasmas installed in a facility yet. My aim is to be able to view my projects as consumers would on a "typical" 50" plasma, in addition to my regular CRT broadcast monitors and HD LCD Apple Cinema computer displays.
I will be feeding probably the SD analog component signals from my Final Cut Pro edit system to the plasma for SD projects, and will have an HD-SDI to HDMI converter for the HD material.
I had pretty much decided on a Panasonic, but lately I've read some posts here about the Panasonics not looking very good on SD material, and have read other posts commenting on how well the Pioneers look on SD.
Does anyone have any real world comparision experience as far as SD upscaling on these two brands?
If I go Panasonic, I'll wait for the TH-50PZ850U...I haven't researched the Pioneers as much, so I'm not sure about the equivalent model in their line.
Thanks for any insights here!

To compare to Pioneers model I would say it would be the new 5020, right now you can look at a Pioneer 5010FD and TH-50PF10UK which is Panasonics pro model. And obviously TH-50PZ80U and the 85. All would be very close in SD IMO
