Anyone what to share settings for their NEW '550?

I am having much difficulty making my new TV look better than the 4 year old 720p DLP it replaced. CATV via HDMI looks awfully "washed out".:(

Any suggestions out there?

Yes, get a copy of Avia or DVE and calibrate it properly yourself.

This is the calibration forum, not the "show me your settings" forum.

Calibration is about getting an accurate picture, not one that "looks good" to some users.

You need to search the appropriate forum for your model number if all you want is someone's settings.

I think what james is trying to say is that getting someone's settings probably won't help. All TV's require different calibrations. Even the same model from the same manufacturer will require different calibrations.

More than likely you can find the settings others have used, but they will probably not help much. The suggestion of getting DVE or AVIA is a valid one if you want to improve the pic. It can help you with the basics and get it looking a little better. It won't look as good as a full calibration, but it will be a start.

I would love to get a full calibration for my new Samsung. Know of anyone in the Northern NJ (Morris County) area who know what they are doing?

Greetings

Works good for PC based images, but you can't apply them to the cable or DVD stuff if that does not come from the PC as well. PC levels are different than Video levels.

Hey James - why do you need to be a jerk to Skalata? It is incredibly common to share calibration settings in these forums.

Does anyone care to share their calibration settings for their Samsung 550? I just got one for my mother-in-law and am trying to calibrate by eye - which as you know is not optimal.

Thanks for sharing.

Greetings

Sharing is not conducted in this area of the forum. It is done in the display specific areas.

This area is for calibration ... and copying numbers ain't calibration.

Such behavior is conducted elsewhere in other sections of the forum. Please note the "sticky" thread above: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1055906 .
