Finally.. I got a new panny TH-50PX80, and I am confused now.. everywhere I've read says I shouldn't lay a Plasma TV flat, but if I can't do that without fear of damaging the TV, how do I install the stand onto the bottom of the TV?

You're only not supposed to lay it flat for transportation as bumps in the road will stress the panel - likely to the point of breaking. You should be fine laying it flat just to put the stand on. Check the manual, it'll probably give you explicit details on how to attach it.

I think from what I have read, you shouldn't transport it laying down. I don't think that laying it on a protected surface while installing the stand will do any harm at all.

You could always get a friend to help you lower it into the stand and put the screws in from there.
