Looking for a budget 50" plasma. Samsung at Costco for $1399, or the Panny at Futureshop for $1499? TV will be up above my fireplace and we will be at least 12 feet away.

Ok.....well i currently have the Maxent from Costco that I bought for $1299 a while back. It is ok...but i'd like to upgrade to a better name brand.
You mention the TH-50px80u however Futureshop is selling the TH-50PX75 .......not the 80u for $1499.
Are both these sets 1080i or just 720p only?

That is way too much for the PX75. Go PX80 and you will get a newer model at at a better price.
