I checked my guide recently to see the listings for the NHL playoffs on Versus. I saw that the games were listed on Thursday and Friday for the SD channel, but when I checked VersusHD I saw this ''Live from the Masters'' ********. Please don't tell me that Versus is putting GOLF on instead of the NHL playoffs on their HD channel. I cannot explain how frustrated i'll be if this actually happens.

This weekend makes it plainly clear (NHL playoffs/Masters) why there needs to be separate HD channels for these two networks. From what I have read on AVS Forum about this (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=751387), Comcrap decided to make one channel out of two for some idiotic (my opinion) reason. Does anyone know if this will get rectified in the near future?

Does anyone know if this will get rectified in the near future?Very unlikely.

I thought ESPN had cable rights to the Masters this year.

USA had them in the past. CBS retains the broadcast rights though.

The program with the better ratings gets the call. It's too bad they don't have another way to deliver the HD feed for the NHL Playoffs.

For those really motivated, there are always the Canadian DBS providers.

Last season Versus used Mojo to show NHL games in HD to cable subs on Thursdays and Fridays in some playoff rounds and I think the DBS providers put them on another channel.

Don't trust the program guide, things could change. On 3/29 and 3/30 VSGLF-HD showed LPGA golf in HD from 6:30 to 9:00 while the guide listed Versus programing. Since Golf Channel has no tournament coverage this week, and their Live from the Masters show will be in SD, they might show the NHL on VSGLF-HD this Thursday and Friday. I don't know for sure, I'm just speculating.

Any word on if some of the games they are showing this year will just be simulcast of CBC? If so, any chance they'll pick up the HD feed this year?

Four days of The Masters and - what, two months of NHL playoffs? Relax, there'll be plenty of playoff hockey on VS. Besides, I love the NHL, but quite frankly with the miniscule numbers the games pull in we should feel lucky that any network is willing to broadcast games nationally. I can't believe VS or NBC make much at all on these games.

In my area the VErse/Golf HD channel is all alone on 673.75. I assume once two HD feeds are available we will most likely immediately get then.
