I hope this is in the right forum...

I'm going to pick up an HD Receiver from my local Comcast branch today, and I'm trying to find out if they provide you with an HDMI cable. Do they? Or is that something you have to supply yourself?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Generally no, they'll give you component cables. I've heard of a few random people getting them, but I would just head to one of the sites that advertise on AVS and pick one up.

At least in my area, you only get HDMI cables if you're getting a DVR+HD box. Regular HD boxes just use component. If your TV can take both, there's no reason to go out and buy an HDMI cable, since the quality is essentially the same.

it's hit or miss depending on your area. Last time I swapped out my box they gave me one.

I agree with what everybody else said.
Hit or miss, depending on the area. I know friends that did get an HDMI cable from Comcast.
In my situation, Comcast did not give me an HDMI cable.
So there ya go.

Here in Mass. I picked up my latest HD-DVR box a few months ago at the local Franklin office. I asked for an HDMI cable and they gave it to me no problem, but I have the feeling if I didn't ask they might have just given me a component cable.

Go to your local forum and ask there! You'll find just it all works in your area (which is, after all, what you want to know).
