For Immediate Release

Atlanta, GA. April 7, 2008 – Design Cinema Privee and Southwire Company have teamed together to present a two day Home Cinema Symposium April 21st to April 23rd. The event, to be held on the campus of Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, will attract builders, architects, custom installers and home theater enthusiasts. Topics include the physics of sound in small rooms, the planning, design and construction of Home Cinema spaces and will provide a road map to follow to assure greater odds of success when embarking on such a project. Among the topics will be proper construction planning, sound isolation techniques, and addressing the unique acoustic problems in residential sized spaces.

“We saw a need to bring together home owners, builders, architects and other professionals to provide an educational forum on the very unique needs and requirements for Home Cinemas,” said Dennis Erskine, award winning designer, and founder of Design Cinema Privee. “We have worked hard over the years to educate builders, homeowners, and architects that Home Cinemas are not just another room set aside for speakers and video displays. The Symposium format allows us to reach a larger audience and engage in a two-way dialogue.”

“Having Southwire Company participate in the Symposium adds tremendous value to all participants,” according to Erskine. “Home Cinemas and digital homes require significant wire plant and, at the same time, a wire plant that will meet the growing needs of technology and bandwidth.” Robb Sexton of Southwire will cover the New Electrical Media in digital homes. Southwire is North America’s largest wire manufacturer, owns the brand Romex and holds the patent on continuous casting. Southwire’s Flatwire products will be featured during the Symposium and participants can achieve certification for the installation of this unique product.

Michael Landry, an award winning Atlanta based architect, expands the scope of the symposium by addressing the design and planning aspects of today’s digital home. Landry will also lead a panel discussion on avoiding the “Digital Home Disaster”.

Two experienced Home Cinema builders, Sherman Peiffer and Andrew Galbert will be on hand to advice participants on how to work well with a builder not experienced in the unique methods and products used in Home Cinema construction projects.
