Well it be in HD? Any chance that TBS might actually show it in OAR or atleast open-matte super 35? I've been wanting to see this movie in HD for so long. How the heck did TBS get the Network TV premiere?

It will also be on TNTHD at the same time and day. This Friday 8pm. That will definitly be in HD but OAR is doubtful.

Why indeed it is. Now on TNT It will be in HD. I haven't watched TNT in a while though. How's the PQ there? And how will they likely show it? Open matte, OAR or croped?

I'm pretty confident it will be in HD. Once last week proved that TBS was finally taking their HD content seriously, it gives me renewed hope that it will be in Hd, albeit it, not in its OAR.

It will most likely be open matte like shown on HBO or Cinemax.

The Lord of the Rings they showed on TNT was cropped, didn't really look HD either.

My bet is that King Kong will be open matte on TNT and stretch-o-vision upconverted pan and scan on TBS.

PQ on TNT is decent depending on your multichannel carrier.

TNT=1080i
TBS=720p

Is TNT still 1280x1080i on DirectTV and 1440x1080i on Dish?

With all the commercials and pop ups and bugs, TNT should be knocked off the Empire State Building instead of Kong. :)

It was most certainly HD, at least here on TW in Columbus. Looked fantastic.

I can take open matte. Hopefully that will be the case. I just wish I could see this film in HD without the commercials. Oh well, better then nothing.

I've seen KK in HD and commercial-free; looked spectacular.

I have it in HD, OAR, and commercial free on a shinny disk.

They'll probably have the beginning of the movie in a box off to the side while the rest of the screen is promoting Office and Sex and the City reruns.

Here's hoping TNT HD treats us with good sound, good PQ and open matte super 35 if not OAR.

Both TBS and TNT are 1080i.

I'm going to flip back and forth between the two just for kicks (for a little while). TBS has actually been broadcasting HD the last week or so, so I expect it will actually be in HD (though probably not OAR).

Diffenently HD but is it open matte or cropped?

Oh, I'm watching it on TNT btw.

Watching on D*. I think TBS HD looks better than TNT HD. This is probably because TBS is MPG4 while TNT is MPG2. Also, the sound is better on TBS HD.

The sound is all out of wack on TBS, just like it has been for the last week or so...surrounds are way too high with dialog coming from them as well. Watching on E*.

Watching on Comcast btw.

TNT looked great on Dish. I only peeked during DVRing to make sure it was HD so I didn't check the sound.

....and whoever would believe you'd ever be saying that about TBS. I agree by the way.:)

TNT and TBS both looked great for me on Comcast. The audio was quite eff'd up on TBS though, TNT sounded much better.
