I am about to call Comcast and request a HD box (finally got a HDTV). Any tips on which one is the best?
Ideally I am looking for a HDMI connection. I will pass that through my receiver and will carry audio through a digital link.
Thanks!

Thanks! You won't have (much of) a choice. If you want HDMI, you might have to get the HD DVR.

yeah, you only get HDMI through a DVR which is another fee.
Question: I just got the HD cable box connected through component. There's a DVI out. Would I get a better Picture Quaility if I get a DVI to HDMI cable?

It depends on your tv and how differently it may handle analog and digital signals. BTW, the difference you'll see in the video between HDMI and DVI is negligible.
I helped hook up a friends Comcast HD box(no DVR, I think?? it was a Motorola) anyway it came with Component cables. I brought over a HDMI cable and on his Sony XBR4 46" LCD we couldn't really tell any difference. The one cable does all was nice though so he kept it.

If you want HDMI, request a DCH3200.
I would not get that model. I have BR4 46" and that cable model from Comcast and closed captions are not available on HDMI.
Now i am researching what are my options to have HDMI and closed captions. Anyone any clue?

I called comcast and they said that not only do they not have the DCH3200 in stock (or for installation) but that they are completely out of boxes with HDMI.
On top of that, they told me that IF the HDMI boxes do become available eventually, I can only get them through appointments (not by going to the service center).
That all sounds like bulls*** to me. Can anyone provide any recent experiences with that?

Just for reference, I wanted to post the solution to my issue here.
I requested a HDMI box through customer service (specifically DCH3200) and they said they couldn't promise the specific model, but they would make sure to bring a HDMI box.
I got a DCT-3412, which is a DVR box with HDMI out.
Since I didn't want the DVR option, I called comcast and let them know about it and I am keeping the box without paying the extra DVR fee.
The box has worked flawlessly so far.
