I have had this remote just over one year and it is out of warranty. The plus side of the volume control is broken. No, it is not a software issue. The button looks fine, and is undamaged. It just no longer makes a clicking noise and does not control the volume. I paid $100 for this thing and now a major function will not work. It seems like quite a rip off. I presume their is no fixing this. It was not mishandled in any way, it just did not hold up under normal use.

I tried emailing Logitech support and it's not possible because of an ingenious system. Once I filled out the 10 different entries I clicked next and it wants me to register with them. Well, I already am registered and there is no way to just log in. I filled out my registration information and naturally it said that another user, ME!!!!, had already used that email address. WHAT VILLAGE IDIOT DREAMED UP THIS SYSTEM! Needless to say I will call their support tomorrow and give them a piece of my mind. They obviously are in need of a piece of somebody's because they are IDIOTS!!!

When you start the Harmony application, does it not start on the Log In page? Mine does.

Also I got a 2nd RC and just set a new user name, no change to my email address. Are you using email as username?

Well, it gets deeper. First, when I got the remote the CD software did not work on either of two computers. I called support and had to download the software, but that only worked on one of my computers. Last night, I was not running the software, but was on the system on which it wouldn't work. I was just trying to send support a contact from the home page site. There was no log in screen or place to log in in any way, and yes my email address is my log in. It seems pretty ridiculous to me that their site would be so badly set up. A company that sells computer tech ought to know better should it not? I am going to check out reviews on a Phillips universal remote as I see no reason to give theses bozos any motre of my money.

If it were me I wouldn't throw the towel in so quickly and switch to Philips.

I have never had a problem with the software or Logi support, also there are about 4 main forums with a lot of help and expertise available which normally resolves most problems without going to Logi.

If you used your email as your username then you would not be able to register with the same name again. Just choose a new name and register, you can have more than one account associated with an email. Logi have copied accross certain features for me when I added a 2nd device & set up new account.

Every RC and every company have their quirks but on balance, although there are a number of changes/enhancements I would like, its about the best you get for your money.
