View Full Version : Problem with HDMI Switch (surpise!)

Hello all

My current setup is a Toshiba 34HF83 hooked up to a HTPC using the Asus M2A-VM HDMI board. The TV is the secondary display and I have a Samsung LCD as the primary.

I recently acquired a Sony PS3, so now I have two devices and only one DVI port.

So, I went out and bought an HDMI switch. It's a Sitecom, comes with a remote (ie, not mechanical). So, it works for switching between the PS3 and HTPC, but when it's on the HTPC, the Primary display (Samsung LCD monitor), 'flickers' every minute or so (same as if you open Catalyst Control Centre as it polls the display devices), Windows then plays the sound you hear when you plug/unplug a device. Nothing actaully happens to the TV, except you see a slight pause. PS3 seems to work fine.

Originally, I had the HTPC connected to the TV using the DVI port on the motherboard, as the TV is DVI, so this involved a few adapters. I thought this may be the problem, so I bought an HDMI-DVI cable for the switch output, and used the HDMI port on the HTPC to connect to the switch, and it didn't make a lick of difference.

Any suggestions? I'm guessing I'll be taking this back and trying another, but it is an older TV, and I'm wondering if I'll have problems no matter what.

Thanks

Brian
