The strong lineup of games doesn’t stop there. Many of you have been hearing rumblings about a video service that will allow you to download full-length TV shows and movies via PLAYSTATION Network for North America. While I don’t have any new announcements here for the PlayStation Nation, it’s already been confirmed that we’ll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you’ve seen or used. Ultimately the goal of the PLAYSTATION Network service will be to break through the overwhelming clutter of digital media to give you the TV, movies and gaming content you want. More on this very soon …

Just to add, it's also sad that Sony dropped their Connect music download service. It would've worked well if they implemented it on PlayStation Network.

I was under the impression that they dropped their Connect music download service specifically because they were implementing something new that would coincide and work the PSN.

Admittedly, I might have dreamed it....

If they do put that there with the movie downloads I see it overtaking Apple iTunes if it's not limited to ATRAC only. Something like MP3 so the mass consumers can put it on everything.

Whatever they come up with, I don't think it'll be Atrac based. The Connect site tells it's customers to seek one of the many new DRM free MP3 web sites.

My newest Sony Network Walkman works with all my MP3s just fine. Luckily I can just use windows to drag and drop songs because somehow, the software for the new walkmans is even worse then Connects pile of junk software.

Also the new walkmans work with the PS3. Meaning I can transfer songs to and from them and the PS3. My old Network Walkmans (Atrac based) won't do that.

You're correct. They wanted to reset and have been taking the time to do it right. We'll have to see if they make a successful infrastructure this time.
