I'm in the process of installing my panasonic 42" 1080p plasma on the wall.I have Denon 3808ci receiver and a Denon 2500btci Blu Ray dvd player.I will be running everything via Monster 6m 400 series hdmi cable from my receiver to my plasma. Here is my dilemma...I wanted monsters best hdmi cable(1000 series) and my buddy who is an a/v installer/designer got me the 400 series:(He said the the 1000 series is all gimmick and the 400 series which is 1080p certified is just as good and I will never see the difference?Does this sound correct?I also wanted 2-1m 1000 series monster cables and he got me 2-1m honeywell genysis crystal series hdmi cables. He insist they are awsome cables!!Anyone know these cables?I want the best picture I can get(within reason)!!Any insite or opinions are welcome!!Thanks bm

Monster cable is overpriced. See the thread at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1001284.

HDMI is digital and generally either works or it doesn't. If the signal is degraded you may see certain types of "sparkles" in your picture. If the picture looks okay, that's as good as it gets. A more expensive cable won't make any difference (except to flatten you wallet).

no offense or anything but you said your buddy is a an a/v installer/designer yet you don't believe him when he's telling you the 1000 series is a waste..

anyway even buying Monster cable is a waste and you should check out the thread that crutschow posted, you may still have time to return and get another cable for a fraction of the cost and accomplish the same goal.

read this as well

Your tech is right but he still sold you on Monster. as the other guy mentions, HDMI is digital and it's signal is all or nothing. At any rate, be sure to run component video with that HDMI just in case you run in to drama with hand shaking or compatibility issues. I had a Denon receiver not switch a Denon DVD player using HDMI. They can't even get it right within the same manufacturer!
