Looking through the Playstation store last night, I noticed a $5 add-on for Super Stardust HD called something like "solo player expansion" that I believe adds new sound effects, explosions, different modes, etc..

Is this new? If so, has anyone tried it and can share thoughts?

This upgrade pack for Super Stardust HD requires the original game. It will add new game modes: Endless, Survival, Bomber and Time Attack. Arcade Mode now features the Easy difficulty. I havent tried it, I was hoping for a bundle like there was for Flow so I could have saved a buck or two.

The fact that it is called "Solo Expansion" gives me great hope for a "Co-op Expansion" in the future.

Did anybody know this expansion was coming. I had no idea- it was a wonderful surprise.

Probably the worst $5 I've spent on the PSN. Honestly. Some will disagree but it's a worthless upgrade if you ask me. Just seems like they threw together some stupid new modes to make more money. I'm sure that's why it had no hype behind it either, they know it's not worth the money.

I know it has a lot of support now, but did Super Stardust have any hype when it first came out? I don't recall hearing much about it, people really looking forward to it.

I prefer stuff like this to be a surprise anyway. Hype creates unrealistic expectations, except for MGS4.

This was not that highly hyped, but it was highly addictive and seemed to gain following over time.

I downloaded this expansion as well. Is it worth $5? Not sure yet. But I like the original game and I will support the devs by paying for the original and checking out the expansion.

If they throw in online multi-player, I will be very happy with this game.
