ok I am thinking about upgrading my wireless from the linksys WRT54GS with speed boost to the linksys Wireless N. Now the wireless N will accept B and G so in theory the PS3 should be able to connect to this router. Anyone use Wireless N with there PS3 that is linksys? if so do you still get disconnected all the time like I do with the WRT54GS? is the linksys WRV54400N more stable then the WRT54GS? The PS3 should connect since this router takes B and G also. I would like to see if using this would be more stable on connections then my other router. Any input will be great, thanks.

My 54GS finally died after 5 years and I got the WRT300N. Even though it's still wireless G, I noticed a slight increase in range. It doesn't disconnect at all.
And it looks like I can talk to aliens!!!

Thanks bud I know on my 54GS it comes up a lot saying it has been disconnected from the media servers, my PC's in the other room, my experinence with the 54GS is it is not a stable connection for the PS3 and I am running firmware 3.71.1 because it was a 2.0 version.

I wouldn’t ever use wireless on my PS3 or any computer that I’m trying to actively game on. I do have the Lynksys WRT350N for wireless to some laptops and it has been utterly flawless for me. Best wireless router I have ever owned, even better then the Cisco Aero nets I roll out to my work offices. The only thing wireless is good for is a little web browsing, email and small data transfers. Any sustained activity like huge file transfer or online gaming will just be interrupted quite often at probably the worst times. Run that Cat6 if you can. In the case of the ps3:
Wireless:
Mp3 streaming: Yes
Movie streaming: No
Gamming: no
That’s my advice.

Agreed. I only use wi-fi at home for my work laptop and my wife's laptop. PS3/PS2/PCs are all connected via CAT6 & CAT5e. I had to pay $50 to have the wiring guy swap out the phone connections on my CAT5e cables to RJ-45 ports in my family room, den, and their corresponding ends in my enclosure, but it was totally worth it.
I have a the Dlink DIR-655 (draft-n gigabit router), and it works great with my work laptop and my wife's laptop. I do get really crappy signal with my work laptop when I have it with me in my den. Largely due to the fact that my enclosure is on the 2nd floor, inside an enclosure, and on the other side of the house. I usually don't use the wi-fi when I'm in the den, but I get a pretty strong signal when I'm watching tv with my laptop on the sofa.

I do not have the option of wired, the only other way is the linksys plug in you know for like $130 you hard wire from your PS3 to the plug and plug it in to the wall and same on the other side. other than that I do not have a wired option.
