First post - I have a HTPC connected to my SHARP AQUOS TV. The problem I am having is, everything is working fine until I switch to another input, such as TV or DVD, or turn the TV off and come back to the HDML input that has the computer connected to it.

When I do this, there doesn't seem to be a signal until I restart the computer. I have tried different resolutions and everything else I can think of but I can't find a solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Once you switch away from an established HDMI connection and then come back the HDCP "handshake" has to be redone. This is probably not happening. I'd check in the HTPC forum here for answers/clues. If you can switch back and forth between the TV and DVD player while both are playing, then it's not the fault of the LCD.

Thank you Larry, I have done like you suggested and it seems if I purchase a device called
"DVI Doctor" it should do the trick.

I was going to mention DVI Detective but wasn't sure if just handling EDID info would do the trick. I see DVI Doctor is a similar type of device.

I couldn't find one in Canada, so I ordered one from California, will take quite a while to get here but I will post the results. Thanks again -- Jim

I have a Sharp Aquos too, and I have problem with my third HDMI input, my computer's hooked up to it. When I switch inputs and come back to HDMI 3 there's no image so I go to my Catalyst control center and change my second monitor resolution and it's back on, so after that I put it back on the previous setting and it's fine untill I switch inputs again. Sometime it works (show the image) but most of the time it does'nt. I go from a Compaq Presario SR1750NX > DVI cable 15 ft. > DVI (female) to HDMI (male) connector > HDMI (female) to HDMI (female) connector > HDMI cable 12 ft. > Sharp Aquos LC52D82U. I use an ASUS Extreme AX300 Series video card.

Does the "DVI Doctor" can solve my problems?
Anyone have ideas?

Thanks,
Gui.

Gui, Seems like the same problem that I'm having. From what I can see in other forums this "DVI Dr." or similar products will do the job, I will post the results whenever I receive it. In the meantime this is the best deal I could find on the hardware.

Thanks Jim, let me know when you get your "DVI Dr." I'm in Canada and it takes forever to get my stuff from ebay. If it fix your problem I'll go on with it. Thanks for starting this thread, I though is was a problem with my CPU.

OK Gui - Little black box arrived today, I can't believe how quick it got here, no duties or GST (unless they bill me later) setup takes about 15 seconds, does like it says on the box, switch back and forth all you like!

I bought a camera last year from NY through Ebay.ca , I wasn't charged tax immediately, but got a bill from DHL about a month later for both GST and PST.

It's not my first time at ebay and I actually never paid these tax. (unless it got lost in the mail)
I started buying there 3 months ago.

Update: Using PowerDVD to watch Blue-Ray movies; signal starts and then a error message comes up telling me the screen is not compatible for Blue-Ray. When I reroute the signal through HDML and bypass the DVI Dr. it works OK. Looks like the Blue-Ray signal cannot be passed through the DVI Dr.

The problem is in the switch. I tried quite a few and found properly designed units will maintain contact on all connected outputs. Not sure if there is an EDID generator that can also maintain HDCP, you may want to check with Gefen and see if DVI Detective works with PC-Blu-Ray.
