Using my tivo3 remote I need the code to control my new sony reciever. I tried the tivo codes listed for sony reciever and they didn't work. I think it is because this reciever just came out.

the codeset it is using is about 6 years old, but many oem remotes only have code for the old sony audio code. You can see if you can switch the codeset your receiver responds to, from AV2 to AV1, which matches the codes in the tivo remote. see your manual or this thread:

Or if you have the GLO tivo remote, you could teach it the commands from the sony oem remote.

any luck finding how to change the 720 to av1? all the listed methods don't see to work.

after talking to sony tech support today they say this ships as av1 and doesn't support av2, but there don't seem to be any valid codes that my dish remote can use to control it. guess it's time to return it.

Well tech support is full of it, the factory default codeset for sony receiver has been AV2 for the last 6 years. You receiver is probably stuck on av2, and if you have standard tivo remote then you're out luck.

If you have a UEI made oem remote, cable or Directv remote in the house try code 31758 or 1758, which is UEI code for receiver set to AV2. Or get one of the following cheap UEI made radio shack remotes, 15-133, 15-134, or 15-135, code is 31758.

I was trying to get this to work with a Dish Network Remote. I ended up taking it back this afternoon. I'm currently looking for another receiver to use.

I have a comcast DVR cable box and the code 31578 works with my Sony DG720. The only problem is I can't switch my HDMI inputs. I found these codes:
