I am looking to purchase the new TVIX M-7000A media server once it is released in the near future.

I recently learned this unit will not be sold in the USA, but it should still work on our electrical system with an adapter plug.

Can anyone confirm the above information?

Assuming the above is true, I still want to purchase the 7000 for use in the USA. Can anyone suggest a good dealer I can purchase it from, at a fair price and with quick and reasonable shipping?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure www.digitalconnection.com will be able to arrange some models for this. Maybe you should contact them and verify they will not sell it. It would seem like no good idea as the design certainly has it's share of fans...

Contact Kei Clark...

Thanks, Hi-Jack.

I actually sent a message to Kei a week before creating this thread, but she has not responded.

I'll try again.

Hi Dawgneck,

I was in Las Vegas for NAB and just got back. We rarely get request for this model due to higher price and shape, and there is a minimum quantity that has to be inventoried. We may reconsider if enough people as for the M7000.

Hi, Kei.

Thanks for the info and your reply.

I may be in the minority, but I think the cylinder design looks better than the box....

Do you know if the 7000A operates at a cooler temp? Also, if your store isn't able to locate a unit (to sell to me :) ), can you suggest an overseas dealer?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

I'm new as a registered member in this forum, but I have been reviewing this forum for information on TViX products. I am a current owner of the M-5000A and the T510. I plan on acquiring the M-7000A once I find a location that has it available, so add me to the minority list on this model.

Any chance the M-7000A model will be available from DigitalConnection, anytime soon. By the way, I have purchased from this location recently.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm from Vietnam and I recently got my M-7000A (my first TViX as well) 2 days ago. The unit Voltage is listed as "90~250V Free Voltage, , 50/60Hz, 50W" so I think you would not have any issue using it in US.

Can you spare a few moments and tell us what you think of the 7000? Does it run cooler than to the 6500?

@Dawgneck: This is my first TViX sofar and I've learnt about about the issue that previous models have. Have not had enough spare time to play with the unit but this is some initial observation:

- Firmware is 1.1.44 F
- Sofar, playing files of all type are good.
- After 2 days (2 evenings to be exact), I encountered few time the unit freeze and need to be reboot.
- Heard about the heating issue, but seems this issue not in this model. I check the airflow at the back of the unit, not very warm.
- LCD display turned black few times when I tongle between Icon mode (not every times).
- 2 times I could not select subtitle.

In general, the unit work great. Love the display on a FullHD LCD. Only audio is a bit not right for me (see detail here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=13709584#post13709584)

Here are some pictures of the units:

The stand-alone unit. You can notice 4 rubber feet on top of the unit, to be used when you turn the unit up side down to install the HDD.

read your problem with the audio. I hope i won't be getting that problem with my unit :(

kriskent,

You are fast. :D

I have not encountered any lag when playing mkv file. All smooth. I'm using a 1TB external Fantom Drive connect to this M-7000A via USB. Have not yet to install an internal drive.

Regarding the audio, I dont really think it's a unit problem, but it's much more due to the device setup. Still trying to figure it out. This is all very new to me.

thats good to hear that it's not a unit defect. :)

im so excited to play my downloaded mkv files, i hate transposing these to VOBs! there are 1080p mkvs that require transcoding which takes 8 hours!!! (like the pirates of the caribbean trilogy)

regarding the usage of the M-7000A, plays mkv and vob files smoothly. I haven't encountered any staggering and dropped frames, neither any freezing issues. I think we have the same firmware too phongdt.

Thanks for your recommendation. Here in manila, it's becoming a craze but the local supplier here cannot give consumers the updated product. Geesh, considering that we are also an asian country like korea the country of origin of TVIX

Kriskent,

Glad to know you got your M-7000A. Pls share any experience, issues you have with it during playing.

Mine still got freeze sometime, but it's not a big deal.

phongdt, have you upgraded the firmware already? the store said the firmware is the same with the 6500 unit so any firmware updates on the said unit can be applied to the 7000 unit.

Phongdt,

Thank you very much for your description and pictures of the 7000A.

Your assessment pretty much sold me on the unit. One additional question: I'm wondering if the unit will work wirelessly with a wireless N adapter... Have you tested the wireless capability yet?

Kei,

I'm looking to purchase the 7000A. Is there anything you can do to help me get a unit?

Thanks in advance.

@Kris: I have not updated the firmware because I thought the 1.1.44 is the latest. I'm currently travelling and will look into this later when I come back.

@Dawgneck: Sorry, I have not tried with any wireless yet. Also, I only plan to use wired network, because my home network is 802.11g only.

phongdt, i updated the firmware of teh M-7000A using the firmware update for 6500. It solved the repeating titles in icon mode while scrolling, no freezing, i think the firmware is okay.

Kriskent,

Which firmware did you update? I went to tvix site and the latest still 1.1.44 which my M-7000A already had.

Hi all,

I just received my anxiously-awaited 7000a from an online vendor. Everything looks as in the photos phongdt shared, only I received 2 power cords vs 1.

Both are for 220V.

Think I was supposed to get a 110V cord along with this? Would I have to use a voltage converter to get this working in the US, or can I just get a different cord or adapter?

Thanks

I've heard that the delivery of two powercords is practical so you can install one powercord behind your av-equipment and if you want to connect it to your pc via usb you don't have to untangle the cords and use the extra one.....

My av-system is installed very professionaly so I can't remove the powercord without removing some other components. I think the delivery of two cords is a case of smart-thinking! :)

Kind regards,

Erwin

Ellarzo,

Yeah what eamesz said. I got a second one so that I could take it on the road w/o pulling everything apart.

As for the power, look at the label on the unit. It should indicate what voltages it will accept... either something like 110-240 Vac. If your voltage in in-between you are good to hook it up with either an adapter or go to a home improvement store and get the proper cord cap to replace the one molded on the cord you have. (if it isn't something you can do, find a friend, it isn't too technical)

Or can order (ask for) the proper cords. But waiting for them would eat my soul ;-P

Happy viewing!

Any further leads as where to get one in the USA ?

I want the 7000 . simply because of its shape ! everyone else has a 'square box'. Square boxes are so 'last century'

It looks way cool.

Anyone know if it will play HDV files ( m2t file containing a HDV transport stream. According to the website it should... but i prefer to hear from someone who tried... )

I am also looking at getting the 7000 or the 6500 and was wondering were to get it from.. I saw on ebay the 7000 sells for 299 with an HDTV tuner and they said the model number is 7010 because of this.. Does this look right or is it a scam?

It's not a scam, but you'll pay like $50 for it to ship here. Look at their feedback. I've been keeping an eye on these units myself and notice the prices dropping like crazy. It's only logical with more and more products on the market at much cheaper prices like the Wd Tv and the popcorn hour.

From what I found the ones on ebay going for $300 are fakes! Check out TVIX web page and they have a pdf showing what a fake looks like. The pictures on ebay definitely show fake units!
