I'm looking for an inexpensive media player for a SD TV with only S-video inputs.

Must be able to play ripped DVD .iso files over a hardwired network (without jumping through mounting/dismounting daemon hoops), as well as other common formats. A simple interface that my 6-year-old girl can navigate to find her Barbie Fairyunicorndancingprincessbutterflyutopia movies is a huge plus. Files will be served from a NAS device and a couple of networked PCs (simple windows shares). No need for wireless.

Thanks.

I agree 100%. I have 3 XBox's running XBMC, and my 6 year old daughter has no problem turning them on, and finding her favorite "Barbie Fairyunicorndancingprincessbutterflyutopia" movies. Buy a used xbox, softmod it using Ndure, keep the stock HD in it since you have your movies on other devices, load XBMC, add your SMB shares and you're all set.
