Ok, I went out and bought a SA 4250HD brought it home set it up in the bedroom. The guide comes up, but I am not getting any signal. Called into Rogers and they said that I have a low signal issue and they would send someone out. I told them not to bother and I would just fix it myself. I know the signal coming into the house is fine because my Digital Cable on the main floor works fine. I'm not sure how my dad has the cable split but we do currently pay for 2 lines. There is one line in the basement, one on the main floor, three lines upstairs, and 1 cable internet connection upstairs.

If I just added a booster between the bedroom outlet and the 4250HD would that fix the problem?

So I just checked it out, I have a 4 way splitter in the basement which is only 50-450Mhz

Now when I connect the cable straight to the tv, it doesn't work. It was working up until I tried the HD Box, but after it stopped. what could be wrong?

Usually those lines are run fairly hot, since they anticipate the need to split the signal several times. You might just let the service guy come out and install a booster for you, that would probably fix the problem. I would rather do that then source the part myself and have it not work...

Do you get a picture on any channel? If you get the guide but black screen there's probably some channels working on there. Besides that you either have a problem with low signal, noise in the line or both. That 450MHz splitter definitely needs to be changed out, you also need to look at the connectors on the cable and make sure they are good or you will get the problems you mentioned. With all the lines in your house you probably need an amp also. I would recommend a tech come out because the cost of parts to "possibly" fix the problem yourself could get more expensive then just having a tech come out.
