Hello,
sorry for the newbie question but I am a bit confused .
I would like to buy a media player to stream audio & video contents
from my NAS (mrt dual nas with twonky media on board) and more.
I have seen some products like:

Dlink DSM-320
Dlink DSM-520
Dlink DSM-750
NetGear Eva8000

Please may someone of you suggest me which could be the best product
to buy also for the very next future? (for example it seems to me that only DSM750
has 802.11n support).

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

Stay away from D-Link rubbish... They make players like chinese make rice and then wonder how the hell they cannot update all their players... Read around in these forums, there's so much to read about the latest units and such...

NMT is currently best positioned but hardware wise are immature (connections missing, some options etc...) followed by TViX M-6500. If you read around, don't get tempted by some people in the Tomacro section and stay clear of those as well...

Whatever you do, stay with the SMP8634/35 chips and not with the older ones...

You can read about players in Pdf at bedtime a few weeks long here:

I owned both a DSM-520 and the EVA-8000. Both had problems playing back standard MPEG2 files, as well as several other annoyances.

I now have a TViX M-4000P that I have been very happy with. It plays back MPEG2 files flawlessly, though it has a couple of oddities with fast forward and rewind. No biggy though.

As far as I know, none of the current players are perfect, but I'd recommend the TViX line of players. The newer ones probably support more formats, but the older ones are cheaper and probably more stable.

A lot depends on what you want to do. Are you going to stream HD? If not then the 320 is probably good enough at a cheap price. HD? If so, then you need a wired connection. Wireless N is less of an issue in making the choice. Do you want to stream from your NAS with Twonky? Then the 750 as a media extender is not necessary. How much do you want to pay? The 520 is a fairly mature product available usually for $200 or so less than the EVA 8000 or $750. Note however it is probably in it's last year of life. If the price doesn't turn you off, the EVA 8000 is actively supported and has a strong beta forum which is constantly being updated. The major downside is it really doesn't support uPnP. That means you can't connect to Rhapsody for example. The upside is huge however, ranging from playing IFO rips with chapters, to not needing software on your NAS. Finally the 750 is the newest of these boxes and you can expect to have some toothing pains.

For all these boxes, you have to remember: "Pioneers are the people with arrows in their backs".

Ok , thanks everybody for the quick replies.
I had a look at reviews too...
Now I am wondering more ...
I have read info about:
- dvico 6500A
- netgear eva8000
- ziova cs510
- popcornhour a100
from your point of view...which could be the best solution?

Basically I have no hdmi up to now (but I will for sure).
I have an home theather and a NAS with twonky media server installed too...
I would like to share from it and / or also use web functionalities such as radio and so on..
it seems to me that although dvico seems the better hw choice,
netgear and ziova have all such functionalities.
Popocornhour has hd opportunity but now wifi (I have) and no scart too.
So...may you give me more hints?
Thanks a lot in advance!
