I would like to get a plasma, but honestly this is the one thing keeping me away. I cannot live with a tv I am going to always be watching for IR on. My son is 5 and we play the wii several times a week for a couple of hours at at time. There is no way I will be able to tell him we can't play it for the next 100 hours or so. Also I really don't like the grey bars on the side of 4:3 content. Is that necessary? Maybe plasma isn't for me, but I like the picture better than lcd. But if IR is going to give me worry headaches then it isn't worth it.

This question gets asked pretty much every day... haha

No it's not bad, todays sets they say it needs to be still image for 10+ hours before there is burn in, IR happens sometimes but you can make it go away.

If you don't like the grey bars on the side then why not just have it stretch everything to 16:9... thats probably better then grey bars anyways.

Stop worrying, get a Plasma and enjoy it.
