Ok Hi out there in new to the site. This is actully my first Thread. But anyway. I have the Motarolla DCH 3416 DVR cable box and the other day I noticed that it has two usb ports on them so i hooked it up to my comp. and nothing happed. Does anyone know what drivers I may need look at the saved data on the box on my comp and mabey even transfer it. I have heard from browsing around on this subject that the USB port are nonactive. But those were kinda old posts (not from this site) So does anyone know? I just got the box like 1 month ago and wow DVR is great....

The USB ports on the Motorola cable boxes and DVRs are not active, and so cannot be used for anything (other than if you have a USB device that takes power via USB, and you want to charge it). The ports that are there are type-A (host) ports, so they cannot be used to connect to a PC, if that's what you're thinking. The only option for that is via Firewire (aka IEEE-1394); see the relevant threads in the HDTV Recorders forum for more information about that.

My dear lord in heaven, you weren't thinking of pirating video were you?
you weren't thinking of pirating video were you?There is nothing illegal about backing up your DVR onto your computer.
I do the same thing ... taking hi-def video and dumping them onto my computer and then BURNING the hi-def program onto standard DVD media (in hi-def) and playing them back (in hi-def) on my HD-DVD player! :eek:
