I currently have a finished theater in my basement which is directly under my living room. My issue is that when the sound is turned up the bass and sound travels throughout my house. It knocks pictures off the wall in my living room and rattles the windows on the second story when the bass really hits. I would really like to figure our a way to improve keeping the sound in my theater as since my now 9 month old son was born I can't enjoy my theater until him and my wife are gone. There is no insulation from when I bought it in the ceiling which is a big problem. I am looking for possible solutions that I wont have to remove the drywall and/or put a second layer of drywall. Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam:D

You need to decouple your theater walls and add mass. Otherwise turn down the sub and get some seatshakers.

First attempt?

Google a product called the "Subdude".... This alone keeps my projector from shaking very well. At least I have not noticed a shake on the projector since I installed two of them months ago now.

Without double dry wall using something like Green Glue (Viscous dampening compound), your improvements will be limited.

The Subdude totally surprised me on cost and function and simplicity.

Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the Subdude? I can't find anywhere that it's listed

Are you sure, John? I have one under an SVS PB-12/2+ and it's almost as big as the sub.
