I turned my TV on about an hour ago to play some PS3 and it starts flickering and making this clicking sound while it flickers. I turned it off after studying it for a min. I just turned it back on and it is still doing it. Is my TV about to die? It is kinda storming outside... so would that be causing this? I hope it will be ok because a friend is coming over soon to play some games with me.

Maybe the TV is about to bite the bullet.

That is what I am afraid of. Can anyone confirm this?

Even if we knew make and model of the set no one could predict what is going to happen.

Yeah my crystal ball is in the shop so I cannot predict what will happen but it sounds like you TV has a problem, maybe in the power supply or something is shorted that is causing a power supply issue. Your TV set is not literally likely to explode or catch fire but it has an issue. Odds are you will need to get it repaired or replaced. If you post a model number and make maybe somebody will be able to identify the problem if it is common to that model but odds are you will need to do your own diagnosis or repair or get somebody do it for you. Unless it is a very special set you are probably better offing hitting craigslist and just purchasing a used replacement.

Well I turned it on this morning and it is not doing it any more. It did sound like something was shorting out. I am already planning on getting an HDTV next month so it's no big deal. Last night I ended up hooking the PS3 up to my computer monitor. Looked like crap, but it was playable.

Your TV will implode because the CRT is a vacuum.
