I've got an opportunity to pick up my Berklines at a pretty good price (a sale to somebody else that fell through). Unfortunately, what is available is three left arms, three right arms, and three two-arm chairs. To get my configuration (front row: four across; back row: love seat on the right, two chairs on the left), I'll need to remove one of the arms on one of the chairs.

- Has anybody ever taken the arm off a Berkline? The seller mentioned removing four bolts and cutting or swapping out a metal support.

- How are Berks normally connected together? Are the bolted together somehow, or do they just sit next to each other in a row?

Here's what I'll have, three left arm, three right arm, two double arm:

that will make two rows of four easily. But to get the love seat (and 5 extra inches of aisle by the back row), I'll need to take an arm off on of the double arm chairs. I want to make sure that is doable before I bite.

Thanks!

Talking to the seller, Berklines don't attach together, they just sit next to each other on the floor. Do they stay together pretty well, or is there any problem with them shifting apart?

I seem to recall Jeff saying recently that gravity holds them together just fine. Worse comes to worse you bolt the love seat ones down on your riser.

I imagine that it makes a difference which model berkline we are talking about.

I have the 099s and the arms are bolted to the seat. In fact I had to tighten them up after delivery. The seat reline control is in the right arm.

Here is a picture of the 99s you can see that the front bracket (wood) would need to be cut but that the frame has feet that if the arm is removed the seat is supported.

The seats just sit together by gravity and do not bolt together.

Bottom line is I think you can make this happen.

Perfect! That was a big help.

Is your power recline control actually *in* the arm? If I remove the arm, will I have to relocate the control?

I don't think it's an issue if it is. No matter which arm the controller is in, I can reconfigure to be able to take off the other arm.

Thanks again for the responses!

In my chairs it is just the switch in the right arms
