If Netflix adds only a nominal charge to BD rentals, I will keep my account as it is. If they charge too much, I will close my account and move to BB. BStecke 04-24-08, 03:05 PM ^^ It depends how much they raise it. While the situation with Blu-ray has gotten a lot better, they're service isn't up to snuff enough for me to justify much of a price increase. I know they cost more, but I'm sure the margins on that type of thing, especially now that they're established, are ridiculous. I highly doubt they're paying anywhere near MSRP for these discs either. umenon 04-24-08, 03:11 PM ^^ It depends how much they raise it. Netflix is painfully slowwww about delivering Blu-ray disks. Too many "Long Wait" and "Very Long Wait" on titles that are "Available Now" on Blu-ray. They also seem to be dropping the availability information. The news is bad, so they don't want to tell us. Bottom line: if they improve their service I will probably stay, otherwise I will switch to the many stores that are now carrying Blu-ray rentals locally. robertc88 04-24-08, 03:17 PM My account is suspended. It will all depend it they get more copies of BDs in my area to distribute. I will not mind the price increase if service is better. Tom Monahan 04-24-08, 03:17 PM For the money it saves on doing blind buys that blow it is worth it to me. My local Hastings rents them for a wopping $5.99 each. Netflix has a facility in my small town so turn around if FAST. DavidHir 04-24-08, 03:23 PM If they increase the price, they better increase the titles available. If not, then I'm gone. kamspy 04-24-08, 03:48 PM If they raise the price, they will have to increase the stock for greater availability to keep my account. sharkcohen 04-24-08, 03:54 PM My issue is actually their service not their price. I think the existing customers are getting hosed. I just joined Netflix 3 weeks ago, my queue is full of BDs, and not one is showing Long or Very Long, and only 3 are showing Short Wait. sharkcohen 04-24-08, 03:55 PM What I'm really interested in is exactly how they plan on increasing the charge. Will it just be a higher monthly fee if your preference is set to BD? Will there be a per-BD charge? How exactly is this going to work? SirDrexl 04-24-08, 04:18 PM Yes, I will stick with them. However, I had been thinking about switching to a lower tier (2 out at a time) anyway. Now, due to the BD price hike, I will definitely do that. Sharkcohen, I'm pretty sure they'll just charge more for the plan that allows access to BD regardless of how many you rent. westgate 04-24-08, 04:51 PM not gonna worry about it 'til bd players are around $200, then i'll keep account as is. guess i better not hold my breath waiting! pbmpharmacist 04-24-08, 04:56 PM I switched to BB a while back and this action ensures that Netflix won't get another chance at my business any time soon suffolk112000 04-24-08, 05:59 PM My issue is actually their service not their price. You got it!! kkpro 04-25-08, 12:11 PM It seems like their total service is slowing down. I'm definetly not getting movies as fast as before. aaronwt 04-25-08, 05:03 PM I already closed my Netflix account two months ago after being with them since 1998. I'm with Blockbuster now for the one out at a time plan for $3.99. $1 less than Netflix. |
