View Full Version : PC -> TV -> Reciever = Buzz

I've hooked my TV up as a second monitor for my computer, passing the audio from my PC to my TV's PC audio in. I get audio from the receiver, but with a pretty heavy low end buzz. It seems to be exacerbated by a low signal level. When I turn it up to normal listening volume, the irritating quiet buzz becomes really annoying.

Will a better sound card (one that's meant to behave as a part of an audio setup) fix this? Right now, I'm just using the stock audio out that came with the computer.

If so, what should I be looking at? I don't need crazy hi-end stuff, just something relatively noiseless. Thanks.

It sounds like you may have a ground loop. Look it up. Try unplugging one device at a time to see when the buzzing stops. It stopped for me when I unplugged the digital cable line.

Bob,

You never really explained the receiver's role in all of this. If you have a receiver, wouldn't it make more sense to output audio to the receiver and not the TV?
