Tell me what you think. I'm looking to upgrade the system.

Future upgrades:

Upgrading to the Panamorph UH480 (ordered)
Moving all of my equipment to a rack in the rear closet
Acoustic treatments
Upgrading speakers and making a ib subwoofer system w/ 4 18"
Seat shakers
Possible projector upgrade to RS2,3 or pioneers new Kuro pj
Upgrading receiver to Denon 4308ci or 5308ci
Upgrade bluray when a descent option is out. I really want a bluray changer

I hope my theater can inspire some others and maybe even give them some ideas

I was thinking of going with a brown theater in terms of color. What were your choices for side walls and ceiling shades of brown that is. I was considering Brown TeePee from Behr for my sides and perhaps a shade darker for the ceiling if not going with that milano blue.

The sides were called mocho and the ceiling is a very dark brown (almost black I would say) but I can't remember the line of paints used. That was up to my wifey...lol

use IMG and /IMG in square brackets instead of html aligators <>. I think it is case sensitive.

Great looking room and excellent gear. Nice job! Is that a 12' wide or diagonal DIY screen?

Use (IMG)xxxx(/IMG) on each end of your image URL but using square brackets.

It is easier to click on the little mountain postcard above the posting box and then paste your Image URLs into the box provided.

I enjoy your colors. Seems classy without being boring to me. Also like the stone work around the fireplace. Nice screen size too. Is that 2.35:1?

adammb

Yes. It's a 2.35 curved AT 12' wide screen

Looks Great. Where is your equipment?

adammb

It's listed in my first post. I have them in DIY shelving underneath the screen. The curtain splits in the middle to access them. I'm currently deciding and looking for the right rack to put them in the closet in the rear.

I like the colors, if you can figure out the brand and exact colors, that would be great.

Does anyone know where I can find a good price for an a/v rack. I need to have at least 74" of useable space and it can either pull out or be stationary.

I'm thinking of adding some buttkickers to the seats and/or platforms. What do you think?

are you using a bp-7000 as your center also ?

and are those 4 bpvx's i see ?

i checked your first post and i see you're using bp-7000s but you didn't say what you're using for center and surrounds

adammb have you checked craigslist/ebay for a used computer server rack? I got one free and it is a std 19" rack. Check around, it will save you a ton if you can get some muscle to get it in the room. (Strip as much off as you can before you move)

adammb

otk, I'm using the 3000 for the center and the supercube I. I am actually thinking about eliminating the supercube because of all the bass that comes from the 7000sc's.

Staffy, I have checked ebay for about 3 weeks now and cannot find anyone close to me as it seems that noone wants to ship these things. I didn't think about craigslist. I'll try that. Thanks!!

I had some buttkickers in my last theater. Pretty interesting reactions from people for the first time. But the novelty soon wears off.

I ended up with almost the identical wall and ceiling colors you have. Are you happy with the white screen?

I too am considering colors close to this, except mine will be more yellow/gold on the walls, and darker (like oiled bronze color (not faux))....are you happy with your colors in terms of light reflection etc???

adammb,

Great setup!

I am currently working on a similarly sized screen and wanted to ask a couple questions.

How far away is your seating?
What kind of AT material are you using?

I am surprised that you are using an RS1 now and considering going to a RS2. The RS1 is at the edges of just having enough lumens when the bulb is new. I calculate that you will be at about 12 ft laberts when bulb is new and be down to ~7 ft lamberts in 500 hours or so. You would be at even less with the RS2, do you feel you will have enough light when the bulb dims? Just wondering your thoughts on this.

Thanks

Kezug. The dark brown ceiling is great. It used to be a cream color for a long time and I would'nt of guessed how much better it is with the brown. The sides are good too. I wanted a compromise between the dark and light colors because I didn't want it to close the room in too much by using a dark color.

dangc. I am using the SMX screen material on a custom frame I made and my first row of seating is about 9-10 feet which is a lot closer than most like but I like it alot. It's close to sitting about a third of the way back in a large theater. My second is about another 7-8 feet back and it is close to sitting half way back or a little more in a theater. I have at least 300 hours on my RS1 and it is definitely bright enough. In some scenes I have to almost squint because it is so bright. Don't worry about that unless your using a low gain screen. The RS2 should performe very similar from what I've been reading. At no point have I ever said or anyone I've showed it too that the screen was dim in any way. I almost wish I would have gone bigger. Maybe another foot or two. IMHO

I'm also a big fan of the fireplace...the Star Wars stuff is cool too. The whole space is really comfortable looking.

Thanks, I was trying to go for more of a relaxed atmosphere rather than theater seats and formal like theater.
