View Full Version : TVIX Interferes With IR Repeater?

I am using a Powermid X10 system and a Harmony One and whenever I have the TVIX on it seems to totally negate the Powermid signals. I have tried moving the receiver around on my rack and it makes no difference. I can see the little LED on the pyramid receiver on the rack blinking dimly whenever the TVIX is powered on. Does anybody have any experience or ideas with this problem?

Does the Harmony One still act like it's getting interference even when you shield it physically from the TViX?

The Harmony doesn't seem to be the problem, the TViX appears to be emitting some kind of interference that effects the powermid receiver...

Physically block any possible IR signal getting to the Harmony.

Does it still act funky? If NO - then there is IR interference coming from the TViX... I wouldn't suspect this... but easy to eliminate by just making sure there is no way IR could get between the two units.

If YES, then that just leaves the Power Mains (plug). Try to either plug the two units into different circuits (try and extention cord and several outlets) and see if that helps. Could also be EMF/RFI interference (where I’d put my money)... to test this, physically separate the two units (get some distance between them) and see if that helps.

In either case, if there is improvement then maybe a power strip with good filtering (EMF/RFI). Shorten the power cords of both units... don’t wind them up together or have them laying on one another... don’t coil them...
Or, in the "let's use a hammer" mode, a power conditioner.
