I am very interested in getting some calibrating equimpent for an upcoming projector, probably an Epson Pro. Anyway, before I decide to buy either a Spyder or Display LT I was wondering how feasable it is to calibrate. I have read some forums on how to do it, but do I need any special access codes or anything else to access my system menus? Also, I have read that you can't calibrate the RS1. Is that just for me, or even if I higher a professional ISF calibrator. Not sure which projector I am going to get. Thanks all.

The RS1 is basically a closed system. Unless you have an external processor you can't tweak the colors to the accepted values. That said, many are happy with the color as it is.

As a calibrator, I can honestly say that a properly calibrated 1080UB that meets spec pulls way ahead of a stand alone RS1. The realism of the image between the two is incomparable.
The image of an RS1 when calibrated using an external processor is very nice but it's a lot more bucks for essentially the same solution.
If these two are your final choices, get yourself an 1080UB pro, make sure the mis-convergence is minimal, spend a few bucks to get it calibrated, (if your in my area I can help you) and I am sure you will be totally content until a more significant technology upgrade comes along.

Thats if you can stand the annoying loud dynamic iris.
I had a claibrated 1080ub pro and couldnt stand the gurgle the iris made. I got an rs1 for 3g and am glad!

3g=3k? Where did you get it?
