My question is, which has a bigger difference? I am talking standard DVD DD 448kbps vs DD on high def which is 640kpbs or DTS 1.5mpbs. My receiver can't decode the lossless codecs so the best I can manage is DTS 1.5mpbs which to my ears sounds excellent and in most cases superior to DD 640. Obviously lossless sounds better but how much better, and which has a great discrepancy.

This topic comes up fairly often in this forum and it produces rather heated discussions about personal experiences, objective testing, and audio theory. Here's a link to a recent thread on the subject. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1020476)
