Hi,
I just bought the HDR-SR10 and shooting video at outdoor is great. However, indoor low condition is not good at all. I would say even worse than standard SD camorder. (I used Auto setting) I am thinking to return it. Here is my question, is SR11 good at low light condtion when compare to SR10? Has SR-11 owner tried it and give me some feedback.
If SR11 is perform better than SR10 in low light. (By Auto or manual setting) Why would that be? I thought they are just difference in HDD size, better LCD and functions etc.
Thanks.

I haven't seen the SR10 in action, but the SR11 seems to have exceptional low-noise indoor footage, up to a point in low lighting, where all noise hell breaks loose so to speak. I feels like there's a certain light threshold where the camcorder decides to give up on trying to remove the noise. Fortunately, that low-light limit seems pretty low IMHO, where most consumer photo cameras and camcorders (SD or HD) also fail miserably. So I'm pretty happy with the low light response of the SR11, and I certainly didn't experience better with SD consumer grade camcorders. But I can't tell you if it's much better than the SR10.
As for your other question, the SR10 uses a cheaper sensor than the SR11/12, so it's certainly possible that it doesn't do as well as the SR11/12.
My advise to you is to bring your SR10 to a B&M that has the SR11/12 and try them side by side.

i have the sony hdr-sr10 and did some indoor shooting and have found if you use the slow shutter speed setting for indoors it helps a lot with video noise. i did some comparisons from using this feature and not and it seemed to help with the video noise

The SR10 is using a 1/5” CMOS chip while the SR11 and the SR12 are 1/3”. There should be a noticeable difference in lowlight capabilities when comparing the SR10 to the SR11. Since the SR11’s chip is bigger, the zoom range is 12x instead of 15x that’s on the SR10.
Have you try filming using the twilight sceene? I found out that select the twilight sceene, it will effectly remove the noise in low light condition. I have the SR11 but I guess it will work the same with the SR10.

I have not tried the twilight scene yet. But I just tried turned on Color slow shutter which looks better in LCD. However, it looks like very difficult to film moving object since everything becomes in slow motion.
And the other reason why I mention SR11 does better job in low condition is I found that in SR11/SR12 thread. A guy who filmed the singer in indoor concert and the video quality looks very good.
