Is anyone in the Tampa bay area undertaking a DIY build right now, or in the near future?
I would love to have a local person to compare notes with.
I have had a hell of a time finding HT enthusiasts in the area.

I know of at least a couple more in the Tampa area besides myself.
I guess you make the 4th.
Considering the billboard I pass everyday that says "affordable home theater installation" in huge letters, you would think that there would be more of us

It looks good Roth.
Do either of you have construction journals or threads?

I'm close to Tampa. I'm trying to see if there is an interest in starting a Tampa meet sometime. Tampa Meet Thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1143644). It's hard to find local guys that are interested in A/V.

We usually go to homecoming every year! I would love a demo. I would love to hear another IB set-up to compare mine to. :)

just saying hi to you all since i just joined this site
any help with me in my project:
just starting out building my 1st 7.2 system
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i just got a new 7.2 yahama receiver and about to
get a new klipsch 350 watt sub but not sure b/c i already have a real good older klipsch sub. do you think its worth it to get new sub b/c im getting yamaha rec:
YAMAHA RX-A800 7.2-Channel AVENTAGE Series A/V Receiver
heres info on it:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882115274
its $749 but i did get a $250 newegg promo card with it. now they are offering a
$399 klipsch 5.1 speaker system with it
on reviews of new klipsch sub they say make sure your receiver has LFE. what is LFE?
heres what they wrote:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-82780019-L0F
its on sale for only $199 and its regular price is $350
Also make sure to use it with a receiver that has LFE out and set the lowpass to bypass. Turn the phase to whichever settings produces more output and you won't ever regret this purchase at any price.
can someone explain this to me?
im also looking for help on how to hook up my blu ray player and hd dvr to yamaha
receiver and then yam rec to samsung plasma using hdmi cables.
should i get 1.3 hdmi cables or 1.4 for the future or are regular hdmi cables good enough?
ive had blu ray and 50 inch samsun plasma for a few months now but i am just now getting
the 7.2 receiver and extra speakers for it.
are these good speakers for rear and extra surround:
Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker (Cherry) Pair
with the extra speakers is it better to put them on the side or in the rear or where?
or would i be a lot better off with these for rear and extra surround ( for 7.1 ) :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290204
Polk Audio Monitor50 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Each
or are these really worth the extra 30 dollars each??? :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290206
Polk Audio Monitor60 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Each
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290203
is it worth it to get the better cables that newegg sounds for hooking up sub and other stuff like this says:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882339223
CABLES UNLIMITED AUD-1316-25 25 ft. Subwoofer M-M Interconnect Cable M-M
and these high speed hdmi cables:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882021128
Rosewill - Pellucid HD Series High Speed HDMI® cable (6 FEET)
in the past ive always used coaxial cable for 5.1 sound on dvd and now blu ray until i
get this 7.2 system going. is coaxial just as good as optical or which one is better?
any and all help would be appreciated

Hey Ross, I posted a few replies in my build thread. Here is a link (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=19) where you can begin your own build thread.
