Hi,

I'm considering between JVC DLA-RS1 (HD1) and BenQ W20000.
JVC is few hundreds more expensive for me.

Plan is to get around 110" picture and room light is totally controlled.
Opinions, which one to get ?

BenQ has reported some noise issues, but I quess that is fixed with new firmware.

First, I'll assume you mean the BenQ W20000. Second, I'm going to assume this is your first front projector and you're mainly concerned about getting a good projector that will knock your socks off when you watch it as opposed to using it to debate the nuances of digital noise, MTF, dE etc. :D The BenQ has limited flexibility, have you checked to make sure that it will fit in your home theater (See Bob Sorel's post (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=753497))? Second, have you read Bill Livolsi review over at Projector Central (http://www.projectorcentral.com/benq_w20000_review.htm)? There are lots of small differences between these two. But, your choice really comes down to, do you like the razor sharpness of DLP or the "film like" appearance of LCoS? In my book if you're watching mostly broadcast TV like sports the BenQ is the way to go, if you're a movie buff the JVC is a better choice. But, others will debate that point ad nauseam.

mdputnam is spot on. What do you watch mostly?
Are you familiar with the differences between DLP and LCOS?

Thanks for answers. Main idea is to watch DVD or BluRay movies. One thing that I thinking that should I get anamorphic lens and 2.35:1 screen. BenQ has support for it, JVC not.

I'm not interesting about depating nuances. I'm quite sure both are excellent. I just don't have possibility to compare those side by side.

I checked last weekend JVC and was comparing RS1 and RS2. RS2 was excellent, but out of my price range.

I think the RS1 might be the one for you, unless you must have the anamorph lens. I havent seen the 20000, but i have got the 10000, and i must say i love the DLP look and its sharpness. Having said that, i also love the RS1`s on/off cr.

I use mine alot with a HTPC, and sometimes with consoles, but if i were to use it with blueray only, and if i had a 100% light controlled room, like you say you do, i probably would have taken the RS1 instead.
