I just bought a BenQ W10000 projector calibrated by Kevin Miller. It was working perfectly for couple of days then the nightmare began :(

The projector start and the picture appear...10 second after the lamp close, the "TEMP" indicator light turn to red, the "POWER" indicator light start to flashing orange then stay orange and the "LAMP" indicator light stay off.

I read in my user manuel that this indicator light means that either the filter is clogged with dust (cheched and it's not) or the internal temperature is too high (it's been close for a while so it's not the case)

What should I do ?

I don't want to lose my ISF calibration by changing the unit

Anyone got the same issue ?

I am not aware of this problem with this model of BenQ...if you haven't, I would search through the existing BenQ threads for similar issues.

But, the real issue maybe repairing the projector and maintaining the calibration. I assume Kevin used the BenQ settings to perform the calibration? If so, Kevin should have a list of those settings that he changed and what he changed them to. If not, I'm sure he can walk you through a list of settings and you would need to write them down yourself to double check them, after you've sent the projector in for repair.

Here's where the rub is.....this is a YMMV concern that I'm stating, so don't freak out. I have read that BenQ will not honor warranty repair, if a consumer has gone into the service menu and changed their settings. I can only relay my personal experience. I did go into my service menu and make changes (as did my calibrationist). I sent my projector in for warranty repair and no one questioned what I had done or at least did not bring it up to me. They repaired the projector under warranty at no cost to me.

I would assume you'll need to record or get records of the settings from Kevin and send the projector in for repair.

Good Luck
Ron

BTW: I would review ALL BenQ threads, not just the W10000. This maybe something that pops up with other models of their projectors....just to cover your bases (cast a wide net).

I own a BenQ W10000. The first unit ( made in Mexico ), although it didn't indicate any warnings like the ones mentioned here, did die from a zapped color wheel after about 30 hours of use, probably caused by some kind of an overheating condition, according to Benq techs. They immediately replaced it with a model that was made in their Taiwan factory. The replacement was different than the made in Mexico unit. The mexico unit had a fixed glass cover over the lens, which may or may not have caused the unit to overheat. The Taiwan unit does not have anything over the lens. I have put over 200 hours on the replacement unit and everything is great. I found Benq to be very forthright and quick to react to problems with this projector. I had a replacement within 7 working days.

Yes M. Miller wrote the settings he changed and gave it to me.

And for the waranty, the unit is covered by a "Mack" special 4 years waranty so it should be ok.

My unit was made in Taiwan.

I hoped that someone here give me a magic trick to fix it by myself :o

Now I will send it for repair...and hoping that all be done short and sweet.

Thanks you for you help ;)

I've used the Mack warranty in the past and they are terrific to work with
