A couple of representatives from the movie giant, Blockbuster, have confirmed that all of their North American stores will soon be expanding their video game libraries. This expansion won't just come in size, but in retail copies and rental copies made available of each title.

The expansion will offer not only hardware and software, but also accessories of the three major consoles on the market. This would obviously include the PlayStation 3. Alongside this increase will be an exclusive PlayStation 3 bundle only found at Blockbuster locations. The bundle will include a 40GB PlayStation 3, Spiderman 3 (BD), Transformers (BD), and a 12-week rental card for PlayStation 3 games and Blu-ray movies. The bundle is expected to retail at $499.99.

"We're committed to offering a full assortment of everything gamers want in our stores - hardware, accessories and retail and rental games across all platforms - including Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS," said Rod Murray, Blockbuster’s vice president of games merchandising.

Blockbuster seems to be turning into quite the PS3 headquarters for everything you may need. Not many people know that you can actually trade games in at Blockbuster as well for more respectable prices than GameStop usually offers its customers. With their library of titles expanding, this only gives you more reason to do so.

I'm not sure about the source, but does this seem likely? If true, it would mean that Transformers is coming to Blu very soon with a new bundle created exclusively for Blockbuster stores.

I think it means the Transformers video game, and not the actual movie. I saw that post as well, and it seems strange that an announcement for the Transformers movie on BD would come in a Blockbuster press release.

Yeah, it could actually be the game, but they refer to both as (BD), so who knows?

Even then, that's not really that great of a deal unless it includes the Dual Shock 3. You're paying $100 for 2 movies and the rental card. Even if Transformers is coming soon, it should be priced as a catalog title, so you would be able to get both movies for under $50 at Amazon. If the rental card is worth $50, it comes out close to even. So, if that's the case I don't see people jumping on this unless they really want all the items.

Who in their right mind would go for the 40 GB? Get the MGS4 bundle, I say.

i've been going back and forth with a co-worker and he finally decided to pull the string on 40GB. biggest factor being cost, he has 2 kids and doesn't like Metal Gear and also doesn't want to wait until june. i'm taking a trip over with him tomorrow to best buy to pick up the system, free controller, and gta iv

I love my PS3. And I will love it when Transformers is finally released on BD. Probably won't happen until the next film comes out :(

I was in Blockbuster today and saw a PS3 bundle with what looked like the Transformers game (along with the SM3 movie, the PS3 remote, and a Blockbuster card) to me. I didn't look real closely as I hadn't seen this thread and didn't realize there was any issue, but I walked away thinking it was the game, and it had the mostly black artwork of the game.

It's the game not the BD, that article is wrong.

Why wrong? Last I looked games are on BD. So the article is quite right. Its people's interpretation of the article that is wrong. People read BD and assume movie rather than game.

I don't think it's a game really. The previous game has been released already and there is no info yet about a new game. Besides that, Sony won't be putting a crappy videogame like that with their console. If you ask me, it's going to be the movie.

So then your saying Spiderman 3 may be the game and not the movie, but since it's on a blu-ray, according to you shouldn't a company make the distinction on which is which?

Semantics Semantics
