What is the difference in performance between the eD A3-300 (upgraded driver) and the Hsu VTF3-MK3? The specs on them look about the same with the eD being $225 less with shipping. I haven't bought one yet and was just interested in this before I made a purchase. By the way, I'm leaning toward the Hsu, but if the same performance can be had for $225 less, I'll take the eD. My room is approx. 4500 cu. ft. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

Wizard, I can not speak to the eD subs but I have owned a HSU 3 3 Turbo and MBM for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely love it for music and Movies.

Shipping was exetrmely fast, ships same day ordered and the boxes have arrived just like when they left HSU's dock.

The support and customer service is top notch.

I am sure eD has a great sub and was strongly considering them but I did not want to wait for month/s and very the online review and customer feedback on HSU was what made me go in that direction.

I suspect to get a better idea which way to go you will need to listen to both in your room to better decide.

BTW, my room is close to the size as yours at 4290cf.

Good luck.

I have an A5-350 w/LT550 from eD and I'm extremely happy with it. I've never heard the Hsu, although I hear good things about their products. I of course do not know what you're expecting from a sub in a 4500 cf space, but I wonder if you'll be satisfied with the A3-300. IMHO, if you're OK with spending $729 shipped for the Hsu, you should look to compare to the eD A5-350 w/LT550 amp at $715 shipped which will probably be much better in that space. At that price point you're getting a larger driver from the eD than the Hsu and a more powerful amp (FWIW). Also at that price point is the AV123 MFW-15 which I hear people report is an outstanding sub.

Not looking to get blasted here for the reference, but looking at Craigsubs ranking, the eD A5-350 scored a little higher in HT than the Hsu, and scored the same for music. The MFW-15 scored higher than both. Of course, you'll have to wait on the eD and AV123 (depending on the finish), whereas the Hsu will ship much sooner. IMHO shipping time should not be a factor as much as performance/$.

Good luck.

My room is 4480 cu (Without adding my 1005 cu foyer) and it opens up to a huge 2860 cu kitchen. I have the VTF-3.3, the sub fills my huge room amazingly.
I recommend the HSU because it is upgradeable. It is the only sub that for less than $200 you can double the air intake and greatly increase its low extension.
And you can later on add an MBM-12 that turns it into one of the most powerful subs around.

The eD sub that is more comparable with the 3.3 is the A5-350.
I was going to buy the A5-350 before I decided on the HSU, but the finish on the eD was not very appealing to my wife and I; it has the finish of a truck bed linning, and it would take 2-3 months to recieve it.

The HSU has a beautiful, classy, and elegant finish that matches any upscale room. It can be used as an endtable without drawing any attention to itself. And the customer service is second to none.
