Is there any real difference in sound quality when comparing the cylinder version to the box enclosure versions using the new SVS 13" Ultra driver? The box one is $120.00 CAD more. Is the cost just in the materials?

The sound is almost identical. The only difference in sound is that the box version has 1-2dB more output down low (<25Hz) due to more enclosure volume. The price difference is mainly wood and shipping costs.

I guess it comes down to a few things. How much floor space you want the sub to use and do you think the extra 1-2 dB is important to you (psychological thing). Not having both in the room at the same time to compare I doubt the buyer would miss the extra 1-2 dB in the box version.

And then there's the weight difference. Can't forget that. The box version weighs in at 155 pounds whereas the cyclinder 90 pounds. Shape. One is obviously easier to move around (e.g. unpack and setup..finding the right location).
