I was curious if anyone else has had this thought yet: Is it possible to use a wireless router to transmit sound to your rear speakers? I've got CAT5 cable that i've transformed into speaker cable and was wondering if you could use a router after the avr, then some sort of wireless hub or something near the back speakers? Kinda doubt it's possible/feasible, but was curious.
The Rocketfish wireless system works like that, and has connections specifically for AVRs and speakers. It's about $99.
I imagine in theory a wireless router would work (same frequency as the Rocketfish, anyway) but I couldn't even begin to figure out how to get it adapted specifically for speakers.
