I would like to split the HDMI video output of my Onkyo 875 to feed both the 1080i RPTV in my main room, as well as the 768p plasma in the kitchen, so that the same feed can be viewed in both rooms. I've read several threads on hdmi "splitters" or distribution amps, and have seen people have mixed results. I really don't want to spend a lot of money doing this. Has anyone tried this 1x2 splitter from monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10113&cs_id=1011301&p_id=3049&seq=1&format=2)? There are some reviews there that suggest it will work for my intended purpose, but I've also seen others here state they've had problems using the affordable splitters at Monoprice. Anyone have any experience with this particular model? If this doesn't work, would I have to step up to something like this one from Octava (http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20distribution%20amp_splitter%202%20port.html)?
Also, if anyone has any experience with these devices, how well do the connected components deal with this? These are two different displays with two different native resolutions, but they can both handle the 1080i signal I plan on sending them. The TV in the kitchen will likely be off most of the time. I know as it is, my PS3 will sometimes revert back to 480 if I turn it on without turning on the TV & Receiver right away. Any handshaking issues that could result?
Thanks!
