Martin Logan Depth - $1,000 or Outlaw LFM-1 Plus - $350??
Both subwoofers are about a year old supposely both in excellent condition.
I am considering them because I can pick them up locally which is a lot less hassle.

I like the size of Depth but I am concerned that it might not sink deep enough compare to other subwoofer for HT
Outlaw LFM-1 Plus for $350 seems like a pretty good price to me, but it's big and it's ported design.
Isn't true that ported subwoofer usually perform better in HT but not as good in music?

I am looking for a subwoofer that will be able to perform well in music yet sink deep enough at moderate volume for HT.
Don't need a giant box that will rattle the house and I certainly won't use my sub as a weapon againast my neighbors.. :p

The room size is about 2,500 cubic ft. w/ opening into kithen which is about 1,200 cubic ft.

I recently auditioned several subs and narrowed it down to the Depth and a REL R-305. I thought the Depth was a great sub but ended up going with the REL because it blended seemlessly with my mains and worked better in my old sub's location. They are two different animals and the REL worked better in my system but it was a tough decision. I really liked the Depth. The Depth is one of the best subs I've heard under 2k and buying one used at a good price would be better than any "budget" sub in my opinion.

I prefer sealed acoustic suspension designs like the Depth and it's 3 drivers do a great job. My room is about the same size as yours and opens to another room and both subs provided plenty of bass, the Depth being the louder and more powerful of the two so it should rock.

I've heard both subs you mention and the Depth is definately the better of the two. $350 for a used $500 sub isn't that good of a deal anyway, whereas the Depth at 1k isn't cheap but it's a sub that will reward you with fast, tight, deep bass.

I did several demos of both the Depthi (Newer version) and R-305, and I agree that the Depth sounds more powerful. However, one issue that I had with the Depth was the drivers bottoming out. For a servo unit, this should not have happened. Granted I was listening to bass-heavy R&B on purpose, with the gain at a modest setting, this should not have happened. For nearly 2 grand, I was not pleased. In fact, I was worried.

So, I decided to get the SVS SB12-Plus instead. After listening to it I can say that it sounds nearly identical to the Depth, but doesn't bottom out. The depth (since it's got the smaller drivers) is forced to use more dynamics-robbing equalization below 30 hz than the SB12-Plus. In theory, they both move about the same amount of air, though the SB12-Plus rolls off at a slightly higher frequency. However, it doesn't suffer from compression as much as the Depth as a result of this roll-off.
