A Novice seeks advice from you all experts out there......
I am in the process of establishing a home theater and am debating between PD8150 and JVC HD100 (which I think is the same as RS2). Sreen size ~100 in. Audio thru Onkyo 805, Sonance Cinema Select speakers and Velodyne Sub. Advice and feedback is much appreicated.
Those are both good choices. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

If you can wait a few more weeks you can read Greg Rogers review in Widescreen Review of the PD8150 and compare it to his review of the RS2. His reviews are honest, thorough and very informative...That's what I'm waiting for...Well that, and my economic stimulus check!!! :D

I would have leaned toward the RS2 but when I saw that you had Sonance Cinema Select speakers that tipped the scale in favor of the Planar.
Actually with the Velodyne sub you may want to look at the Sanyo line........;)
Honestly, both of these projectors are superb and would leave 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of people VERY happy.

Wow, that number is way inaccurate.
its

Not sure if I understand why speaker selection make a diffence on the projector.....

It was a joke. I was making fun of the fact that you included the audio portion of your system in a suggestion thread for a projector, as if the two had anything to do with each other. Sorry, I guess the joke didn't go over.

Is color accuracy important to you? Preliminary reports indicate that the 8150 will be a far more accurate projector colorwise, though the RS-2 can be corrected by adding an external processor (certain ones, not just any VP) - the RS-2 should be the easy winner for on/off contrast.
I agree with Thatchmo in that you should wait for the review of the 8150 from Greg Rogers (and I think Kris it reviewing it too!) if you can wait that long.

I am dumb today. I didn't get the joke at all. :)
I'm sure both would be OK. It depends on what you are looking for in a projector. They both will have a different look due to the technologies used.
What do you watch mostly?
Also, are you sure you don't want to go bigger on your screen?
