My boss has an Optoma EP749 (a review can be found by searching the site, I tried to post the URL but I don't have enough posts to allow it). It's rated at 2500 lumens with a 2200:1 contrast ratio. I know those numbers can be nonsense, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to offer anything more real-world. He'd like to upgrade to something "smaller, brighter and with better color" (wouldn't everyone like to do that?). It needs to be portable as he takes it all over the place. He uses it mostly for presentations, but he's known for incorporating a lot of video in them. The projector will usually be connected to his Macbook (DVI or VGA), or a Dell laptop (VGA). He prefers the Mac.

I'm hoping to get a few options to present to him at different price ranges. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Does he want a 4:3 projector like the ep749 or a widescreen projector?

Considering how he uses it I think there would be advantages to both. I would say 4:3 would be better overall, but if there was a great widescreen I think he would be able to use that as well.

Anyone know of a good guide for projectors geared towards business use?

Any opinions on the EP1691? Someone PM'ed me saying it was a good option. When I thanked him he sent me another PM offering to sell it to me for $1,350. Amazon has them for less than $1,000, so I don't really trust that opinion anymore. Help?
