I am looking seriously into buying a new sub for my ht. When reviewing sub threads here, Epik's Castle came up. I am llooking for an all around performer My Family room is 14x14x15 (2940cf) opening to kitchen. I am looking for comparisons not based on mathematics, albeit that I want the sub to be flat to as low as possible. So if anyone can tell me their impressions on the ht experience with these subs and how detail oriented they are, that would be great.

Unfortunately, I doubt there is a person who owns both. I know a person who heard both, that is Craigsub, and according to his ranking Castle is in a whole other league.

I've only heard the Castle. I did research for about a month before making a purchase, guided by Craigsubs rankings. The Castle blew my expectations out of the water. I have a similar sized room, actually 12x30x8 that opens to a kitchen and the Castle shakes the whole room apart.

The Castle and the 12/2 in native tune should be very close for output. Below 25hz the Castle will have an advantage even tuning the SVS lower. SQ is a subjective question. I know some who prefer the Plus/2 over the Ultra13 though Craig's scores can't reflect that. Either sub is going to knock you lights out.

Also, what do you think of the sq of the castle???
