After 27 months and 2450 hours of flawless service, my Ruby has just given a message that the lamp/filter should be replaced because the lamp will fail within 50 hrs. I know that the predicted life of the lamp is 2500 hours. However, the picture remains bright and vibrant. Is there any reason I should replace the bulb now rather than waiting until it actually fails?

From what I understand re. bulbs---when it goes out it could take out something else; which could be an expensive- "something else". But hey, I don't know that with absolute certainty.--However that is a lot of miles---I do own one of these.
