Can someone please direct me to an audio information website that states and expands on the formula used to calculate the speed of sound vs. distance? I want to learn more on the math involved in the correlation between distance and time delay.

Thanks,

Andre'

go to Rane.com they have lots of paers and stuff there you can read and dig into. Also go to prosoundweb.com they have a section called study hall that has lots of great info.

Not exactly what you're asking, but the (simple) formula is shown:

Try this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_of_sound

It talks in some detail about formulas for the speed of sound.

The correlation is really easy. It is a linear time delay. The speed of sound is constant for a given temperature and humidity. 2x the distance = 2x the time delay. :)

Speed of sound in room temperature and normal humidity is about 1 foot per millisecond (or at least close enough that that's what everyone uses without worrying about it :-)

My sincere thanks to all that replied. I was able to find just what I was searching for and a lot more!
