Does anybody have advice on choosing between these two? I was originally sold on LCD, but heard great things about the Samsung DLP, and the price is right.
I'm looking for something between 46 and 52 inches and under $1400. Am I missing anything?
Thanks for the help!

tough... I was split between the 747i and the ln46a530 or pn50a550 cause i could get it for the same price as the olevia. I chose the Olevia. It should be in next wednesday. I'm nervous cause i've never seen it before. I'll let you know how it goes.

O yea... may 14th is the delivery date. I'm a student at working at the Sears electronics department and all day I stare at all our TV's. I know what's good and I've done tons of research. I've had 3 LCD's so far and although I like the picture on plasmas better, I've always ended up buying a LCD. The first LCD I had was a LN-S4051 Samsung. It did standard definition pretty well and had a pretty good feature set. However, it lacked a QAM tuner. That set went bad after a month so I got a full refund and sat on the money until something better came across. So a month passed by and I stumbled on a good deal on a Samsung LN-T4066 at Bestbuy. Picked that up, brought it home and was pretty pleased with it. I must have some bad luck with Samsung cause the HTIB that I got went bad along with my new set. So I returned it again and ended up getting a vizio GV42LF at my work. That set was actually suprisingly pretty good. Off angle kind of sucked but it worked well and the PIP was great. However, it had HDMI issues and would freeze every now and then. So I sold it and here I am. I can't stand bad SD on tv's so this is what i opted for. I would have ended up with a Panny plasma but I hated the fact that it lacked PIP and better picture controls. Guess we'll see...

Good SD was one of the appeals of the Olevia. I still haven't decided, and now I'm considering the Magnavox 47MF437B, which is also available for under $1,200. I'll look forward to your thoughts on the 747i.

My tv came in... here are my initial impressions. The analog channels look very snowy but that's probably because of the signal (I used a high grade coax cable split with a monster 2ghz splitter). However, the digital channels look fairly pixelated. I'm pretty sure this can be tweeked in the menus but I'm having some difficulty navigating through the OSD. The black levels aren't too bad either which was a concern for me. The glare however is pretty bad so if you have a lot of light beware. I wish there were more proprietary buttons. I'll post pics and more reactions once I figure things out...
