Hi everyone,
I am looking for a projector for my new apartment. I am wanting to stay under $2,000 for the projector and am open to both 720p or 1080p although I would prefer to go with 1080p. Since I will be in an apartment, I will not be able to mount the projector so I need something that is versitile in its placement. I would also like suggestions for good screens that aren't very expensive. The screen will also need to require the lowest number of holes in the cieling/wall as possible. The room is 15' x 20'3" and I will have fairly good light control but I won't be able to get it pitch black during the day.
Now, one interesting thing here is that I have very bad eyesight so I want the biggest screen possible. I currently have a 50 inch 1080p plasma and to give you an idea of how bad my eyesight is, I still have to sit within a couple feet of it to really be able to see everything. I did have a cheap projector that wasn't really meant for home theater at one point with an 80 inch screen and loved it but I had to get rid of it because of living circumstances. I am really looking forward to getting a projector again. That old projector was a DLP and I do not experience the rainbow effect. My guess is that I would prefer DLP over LCD the same way I prefer Plasma over LCD for direct view sets but I am open to any suggestions.
I would greatly appreciate any help that any of you can give me. I have been reaeding a lot of threads on here but given my unique requirements I think I need more specific help.
